Caracalla, 198-217. Antoninianus (Subaeratus, 22 mm, 3.62 g, 6 h), a contemporary plated imitation, irregular mint, after 215. IMP ANTONINVS PIVS AVG BRI Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Caracalla to right, seen from behind. Rev. P M TR P XVIII COS III P P Serapis standing front, head to left, raising his right hand in salute and holding globe in his left. Cf. BMC 131, Cohen 295 and RIC 263e (for possible prototype). An interesting and unusual imitation of an early antoninianus. Somewhat rough and with minor breaks in plating, otherwise, good very fine.
