Elagabalus, 218-222. Antoninianus (Silvered bronze, 21 mm, 4.24 g, 12 h), a contemporary imitation, irregular mint, after 219. IMP CΛES M ΛVR ΛNTONINVS ΛVG Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Elagabal to right, seen from behind. Rev. P M TR P VI COS II P P Mars standing front, head to left, placing his right hand on shield set on ground and holding inverted spear in his left. An unusual and very interesting imitation, combining an obverse of Elagabalus with a dated reverse, reminiscent of a denarius of Severus Alexander. Slightly rough and with minor traces of corrosion, otherwise, very fine.
