Marcus Aurelius, 161-180. Denarius (Subaeratus, 19 mm, 3.55 g, 7 h), a contemporary plated imitation, irregular mint, after 170. M ΛNTONINVS ΛVG TR P XV Laureate head of Marcus Aurelius to right. Rev. VICT ΛVG COS III Victory advancing left, holding wreath in her right hand and a trophy with her left. Cf. BMC 532, Cohen 979 and RIC 225 (for possible prototype). A sharply struck and unusually well preserved imitation. Minor breaks in plating, otherwise, extremely fine.
