ATTICA. Athens. Circa 165-42 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 16.71 g, 12 h), Metrodoros, Demosthen... and Eukra..., magistrates, 115/4. Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet adorned with Pegasos and long tendril on the bowl, and with the foreparts of four horses above the visor. Rev. Α-ΘΕ / MHT/POΔΩ - ΔH/MOΣ/ΘEΝ / EYK/PA Owl standing facing on amphora; to right, grape bunch on vine; on amphora, Ι (?); below, ΠΕ; all within laurel wreath. Thompson 643a-b. Heavily double struck and with numerous faint cleaning scratches, otherwise, very fine.
