An exceptional Semis of Hadrian for circulation in the East

Hadrian, 117-138. Semis (Orichalcum, 21 mm, 4.70 g, 6 h), Rome, for circulation in the East, circa 125-127. HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS Radiate head of Hadrian to right, with slight drapery on his left shoulder. Rev. COS III Modius containing six grain ears. BMC p. 442, *. Cohen 472 var. (no drapery). RIC 895. RPC III online 3160A ('Cappadocia'). Rare and exceptionally well preserved for the issue, and with attractive earthen highlights on a black patina. Extremely fine.
