IONIA. Magnesia ad Maeandrum. Circa 145-140 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 16.78 g, 12 h), Herognetos, son of Zopyrion, magistrate. Diademed and draped bust of Artemis to right, with bow and quiver over her shoulder. Rev. MAΓNHTΩN - HPOΓNHTOΣ / ZOΠYPIΩNOΣ Apollo standing left on maeander pattern, holding filleted laurel branch in his lowered right hand and leaning his left elbow on a tall tripod behind him; all within laurel wreath. Ellis-Evans, Wreathed Tetradrachms, 183 (O.29/R.HZ5). Jones dies 27/aJ. SNG Lockett 2829 (same dies). Lightly toned and with a wonderful reverse. The obverse a bit weak, otherwise, good extremely fine.
