SICILY. Leontini. Circa 430-425 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.46 g, 9 h). Laureate head of Apollo to left. Rev. 𐀋E-O-N-TI-N-ON Head of a lion with open jaws to left; above, to left and below, three barley grains; to right, laurel leaf. Boehringer, MĂŒnzgeschichte, 55 (same dies). HGC 2, 671. Rizzo pl. XXIV, 4 (same dies). SNG ANS 257 (same dies). Sharply struck and nicely toned, a very attractive example. A few light scratches and with the usual small die breaks and a minor bang on the obverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.
