KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 14.43 g, 6 h), Amphipolis, circa 340/36-328. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠ-ΠΟΥ Young jockey, holding palm frond in his right hand and reins in his left, riding horse to right; below raised foreleg, janiform head wearing polos. HGC 3.1, 865. Le Rider 270 (D127/R231). SNG ANS 510-20. Beautifully toned and with a bold head of Zeus of fine style. Struck on a slightly short flan, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
