Divus Vespasian, died 79. Denarius (Subaeratus, 19 mm, 3.09 g, 6 h), a contemporary plated imitation of an issue from Rome struck under Titus, after 80. DIVVS AVGVSTVS VESPASIANVS Laureate head of Divus Vespasian to right. Rev. AVGVR / TRI POT Simpulum, sprinkler, jug and lituus. Cf. BMC 112, Cohen 144 and RIC 364 (for prototype of obverse), and BMC 64, Cohen 45 and RIC 356 (for prototype of reverse). A few minor breaks in plating, otherwise, about extremely fine.


This interesting hybrid plated imitation combines an obverse of Divus Vespasian with a reverse of Vespasian in error.
