T. Didius, 113-112 BC. Denarius (Subaeratus, 19 mm, 3.29 g, 7 h), a contemporary plated imitation, irregular mint. Head of Roma to right, wearing crested and winged helmet; behind, monogram of ROMA; below, star (mark of value). Rev. T•DEIDI Two gladiators fighting, each holding shield, the one on the left attacks with a flail, the other with a staff or sword. Cf. Babelon (Didia) 2, Crawford 294/1, RBW 1134 and Sydenham 550 (for prototype). Light marks and with minor breaks in plating, otherwise, very fine.
