LOWER DANUBE. Geto-Dacians. 1st century BC. Denarius (Subaeratus, 19 mm, 3.33 g, 6 h), imitating Roman Republican denarii of L. Censorinus (82 BC) and L. Rutilius Flaccus (77 BC). L•CENSORIN Diademed, draped, and veiled bust of Venus to right, wearing earring and pearl necklace. Rev. L•RVTILI Victory driving biga to right, holding reins in her right hand and wreath in her left. Cf. Crawford 360/1 (for possible prototype of obverse) and 387/1 (for possible prototype of reverse). Very carefully produced and of excellent style. Faint marks and with tiny breaks in plating, otherwise, very fine.
