KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Stater (Gold, 18 mm, 8.58 g, 1 h), Lampsakos, struck under Leonnatos, Arrhidaios, or Antigonos I Monophthalmos, circa 323-317. Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠOY Charioteer driving biga to right, holding reins in his left hand and goad in his right; below horses, coiled serpent right and monogram. Le Rider pl. 90, 6. SNG ANS 285. Thompson, ADM II 122 (same obverse die). A lovely piece of fine style with underlying luster. Faint marks and with very minor die rust on the obverse and light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
