Citing the ʿAbbasid caliph al-Mustazhir billah (AH 487-512 / AD 1094-1118), ‘lā ilāha illā / Allāh waḥdahū / lā sharīka lahū / al-imām al-Mustaẓhir / billāh’ (‘There is no deity but Allah, the One, there is no partner to Him. Imam al-Mustazhir billah’ in Arabic); inner margin, ‘bism Allāh ḍuriba hādhā al-dīnār bi Naysh[ābūr] … [ti]sʿīn wa arbaʿa miʾa’ (‘In the name of Allah. This dinar was struck in Nishapur … 49x’ in Arabic)’; outer margin partly off flan and partly effaced. Rev. ‘li-llāh / Muḥammad rasūl Allāh / al-sulṭān al-muʿaẓẓam / shāhānshāh Barkiyāruq / al-malik ʿAḍud al-Dawla / Sanjar ibn Malikshāh’ (‘For Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.
