SWITZERLAND. Bern. Stadt and Kanton. 40 Batzen (Silver, 41 mm, 29.00 g, 6 h), countermarked on a French Écu aux rameaux d'olivier 1767 R (Orléans), 1816-1819. LUD•XV•D•G•FR• - ET NAV•REX• Bare bust of Louis XV to left; to right, countermark: Bernese coat of arms. Rev. SIT NOMEN DOMINI - BENEDICTUM 1767 Crowned coat of arms between two olive branches; to right, countermark: 40 / BZ. HMZ 2-231a. Nicely toned. Light marks on the host coin, otherwise, host coin fine, countermarks very fine.
