LUCANIA. Velia. Circa 300-280 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.48 g, 11 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested and laureate Attic helmet. Rev. YEΛHTΩN Lion walking right; below, N; in exergue, filleted thyrsos. HN Italy 1300. SNG ANS 1353 (same dies). SNG Ashmolean 1304 (same dies). Williams 388 (O194/R274). Nicely toned and of fine style. Slightly rough and with minor marks and light scratches, otherwise, very fine.

Ex Peus 438, 26 April 2024, 3006 and previously privately acquired from Kricheldorf in May 1967 (with dealer's ticket).
