A highly interesting mix of two reverse legends
Lot 1978
Salonina, Augusta, 254-268. Antoninianus (Silver, 21 mm, 2.90 g, 6 h), Cologne, 259-260. SALONINA AVG Diademed and draped bust of Salonina set to right on crescent. Rev. DEAE SEGETINO (sic!) Segetia standing facing within tetrastyle temple, both hands raised. Cohen -. Eauze 1519 (same reverse die). Hauck & Aufhäuser 18 (2004), 535 (same reverse die). MIR pl. 131, 902c/35. RIC -. Very rare with this interesting reverse spelling error. Minor weakness and with thin surface cracks, otherwise, very fine.

The highly intriguing error in the reverse legend arises from a conflation of DEAE SEGETIAE with the legend DEO VOLKANO found on contemporary antoniniani of Valerian I (MIR 884; RIC 5).
