Nero, 54-68. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 38 mm, 27.24 g, 7 h), Rome, circa 63. NERO CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG GERM P M TR P IMP P P Laureate head of Nero to left. Rev. CONG II DAT POP Nero, on the left, seated to right on platform; before him, an official seated to right on another platform, handing out congiarium to citizen standing to left on a flight of steps; on the right, small boy standing left; in the back, Minerva, on the left, standing facing, holding owl in her right hand and spear in her left, and Liberalitas, on the right, holding up tessera in her right hand. RIC -, cf. 101 (differing bust type). Very rare. A lovely coin struck on a very broad and medallic flan. Rough surfaces, otherwise, good very fine.
