Extremely rare with this very unusual brockage mint error
Lot 3327
GERMANY. Weimarer Republik. 1918-1933 Aachen, Stadt. 25 Pfennig 1920 (Iron, 24 mm, 5.00 g, 12 h), necessity coinage, brockage mint error. Münzprägeanstalt L. Chr. Lauer, Nürnberg (Nuremberg). [STADT - A]ACHEN / 25 / •1920•. Rev. Incuse of obverse. Funck 1.10. Extremely rare with this very unusual brockage mint error. With areas of weakness, otherwise, extremely fine.

From a German Collection of Patterns and Mint Errors.

This brockage mint error is particularly unusual, as the curved line on the reverse suggests that the coin lodged in the lower die - which produced the incuse impression on the present coin - broke during the striking process. This interpretation is further supported by the weakness on the obverse, which likely resulted from the reduced resistance during the strike after the underlying coin had fractured.
