Draped Sasanian-style bust to right resembling Khosrau II, wearing an elaborate mural crown with two wings; behind head, ‘GDE / ʾp̄zwt'’ (‘[may his] glory increase’ in Pahlavi); before head, ‘mwhʾlp' Y / ʾbwcwplʾʾn’ (‘al-Muhallab son of Abu Sufra’ in Pahlavi); in the outer margin, ‘bism Allāh’ (‘In the name of Allah’ in Arabic); to left, ‘MW’ (‘abbreviation for the name of al-Muhallab in Pahlavi).
