KYRENAICA. Kyrene. Circa 390-380 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 12.37 g, 6 h), Asiatic standard. [K-Y]/P-[A/N-A] Silphion plant with two pair of leaves and fruits, and with two small silphion leaves out of the stem below. Rev. Bearded head of Zeus Ammon to right, with ram's horn over his ear. BMC 74 and pl. IX, 4. Boston MFA 1315. SNG Copenhagen 1184. Beautifully toned and with an impressive head of Zeus Ammon. Somewhat granular and with minor traces of corrosion, otherwise, very fine.
