Halved from a quarter to an eight stater

CENTRAL EUROPE. Helvetii (?). Late 2nd-early 1st century BC. 1/4 Stater (Electrum, 17x9 mm, 0.67 g). Celticized laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. Celticized charioteer driving biga to left; below, bird-like animal with the coiled body of a serpent above blundered legend; all within shallow circular incuse. Cf. Allen, The Philippus in Switzerland, pl. 14, 130-40. Cf. DT 3059. Halved in antiquity, otherwise, very fine.
This intriguing little quarter-stater of the Helvetii (?) was subsequently cut in half, effectively making it an eighth-stater
