LYDIA. Daldis. Gordian III, 238-244. Medallion (Orichalcum, 40 mm, 35.21 g, 7 h), L. Aur. Hephaistion, first archon for the second time. ΑΥΤ•Κ•Μ•ΑΝΤ•ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ Laureate and cuirassed bust of Gordian III to right, wearing aegis with gorgoneion on his left shoulder. Rev. ЄΠ•Λ•ΑΥΡ•ΗΦΑΙϹΤΙΩΝΟϹ•ΑΡΧ•Α - Τ•Β / ΔΑΛΔΙΑ/ΝΩΝ Artemis advancing right, holding bow and arrow, hunting two stags being attacked by two dogs. RPC VII.1 201 (1 specimen, same dies). Of the highest rarity, apparently only the second known example, and the only one in private hands. Somewhat smoothed, otherwise, good very fine.
