Judaica PHILISTIA. Central Mint. Athenian-styled, circa 420-350 BCE. Mʿh = Obol (Silver, 10 mm, 0.69 g, 8 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves and palmette. Rev. Owl standing left, head facing; to right, olive sprig; to left, head and neck of a lion to left; to upper and lower left, Δ-E; all within incuse square. Gitler & Tal XII.2Oa (this coin). Hendin -. Jeselsohn 178 (same reverse die). Shoshana - Sofaer -. Very rare and exceptionally well preserved. Beautiful iridescent toning and with a particularly clear reverse. Minor areas of weakness, otherwise, about extremely fine.
