Judaica SAMARIA. Series with place names and related types. Circa 375-333 BCE. Half Mʿh = Hemiobol (Silver, 6 mm, 0.21 g, 12 h). Forepart of a lion to right, head facing. Rev. Triform bearded male head, wearing rectangular headdress. CSC 4. Gitler & Tal, Unrecorded, 12. Hendin -. Jeselsohn 398-399. Meshorer & Qedar -. Shoshana -. Sofaer -. Wyssmann -. Extremely rare. Beautfully toned and with a wonderful reverse. Minor areas of weakness, otherwise, about extremely fine.

The magnificent reverse was inspired by Cilician obols (Göktürk 37 and SNG Levante 201-202), although on those examples the triform head does not wear a rectangular headdress.
