ARABIA, Southern. Saba'. 1st century BC to 1st century AD. Drachm (Silver, 27 mm, 5.32 g, 8 h), imitating Athen's 'New Style'-coinage. Male head to right, with long curls; all within laurel wreath . Rev. Owl standing right on overturned amphora, head facing; to upper left, monogram; in field to left, Ν (in Sabean); in field to right, VOE above royal Sabaean monogram and curved symbol of Almaqah; the whole within a wreath composed of amphorae. HGC 10, 724. Huth 279-80. Munro-Hay 1.11i. SNG ANS 1462-4. Minor deposits and with some doubling on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
