SELEUKID KINGS. Antiochos VII Euergetes (Sidetes), 138-129 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 34 mm, 16.35 g, 12 h), Antiochia on the Orontes. Diademed head of Antiochos VII to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ - ΕΥΕΡΓΕΤΟΥ Athena standing front, head to left, holding Nike in her right hand and resting her left on shield decorated with gorgoneion and set on ground; spear leaning against her left arm; to outer left, monogram of ΔΙ above Α; on shield, AI; all within laurel wreath. HGC 9, 1067d. SC 2061.3b. Lovely iridescent toning and with a splendid portrait with unusually distinctive facial features. Faint scratches and with a few tiny die breaks on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
