CILICIA. Tarsos. Tarkumuwa (Datames), satrap of Cilicia and Cappadocia, 384-361/0 BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 9.85 g, 6 h), circa 380-379. Diademed female head facing slightly to left, wearing pendant earrings and necklace. Rev. 𐡕𐡓𐡊𐡌𐡅 ('trkmw' in Aramaic) Bearded and draped bust of Ares (?) to right, wearing crested Attic helmet. Casabonne series 3. SNG Copenhagen 278-9. SNG Levante 79. SNG Paris 258-70. Beautifully toned. Some horn silver and light scratches and the obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.
