KINGS OF MACEDON. Antigonos III Doson, 229-221 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 17.00 g, 12 h), Amphipolis (?). Head of Poseidon to right, wearing wreath of seaweed. Rev. Apollo seated to left on prow, holding bow in his right hand; on the planks, BAΣIΛEΩΣ / ANTIΓONOΥ in two lines; to upper right, star; in exergue, two monograms. HGC 3.1, 1051 var. (one monogram). Panagopoulou Period IV, Group 20, 76 (O20/R74). Of the highest rarity, apparently the second known example. Minor marks, otherwise, nearly very fine.
