A very well preserved contemporary plated imitation

Julius Caesar, 49-44 BC. Denarius (Subaeratus, 18 mm, 3.85 g, 10 h), a contemporary plated imitation. Irregular mint, after 49-48 BC. CAESAR Elephant walking right, trampling on horned serpent. Rev. Priestly implements: simpulum, aspergillum, securis with wolf's head at the top, and apex. Cf. Babelon (Julia) 9, Cohen 49, Crawford 443/1, CRI 9, RBW 1557 and Sydenham 1006 (for prototype). A very well preserved contemporary plated imitation. Struck slightly off center and with minor breaks in plating, otherwise, good very fine.
