Lucius Aurelius Cotta, 105 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.95 g, 12 h), Rome. Draped bust of Vulcan to right, wearing laureate pileus; to left, star (mark of value) above tongs; all within wreath. Rev. L•COT Eagle standing right, head left, on thunderbolt; all within laurel wreath. Babelon (Aurelia) 21. Crawford 314/1c. RBW 1164 var. (differing control mark). Sydenham 577a. Boldly struck and with a beautiful bust of Vulcan. Small area of edge roughness and the obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, about extremely fine.
