A beautiful bronze of Hormizd I

KUSHANO-SASANIANS. Hormizd I, circa 265-295. AE (Bronze, 17 mm, 2.59 g, 3 h), Balkh (Bactria). Draped bust of Hormizd I to right, wearing an elaborate crown with a lion’s head, topped by a korymbos; to right and left, ‘ʾwhrmzdy – MLKA’ = ‘Ohrmazd šāh’ (‘King Hormizd’ in Pahlavi). Rev. A divinity emerging from a fire altar, holding a diadem in his right hand and a spear in his left; to right and left, ‘bwrzʾwndy – yzdty’ = ‘burzāwand yazad’ (‘Exalted God’ in Pahlavi). Zeno 345652. A lovely piece with a beautiful brown patina. Minor weakness and with some deposits, otherwise, about extremely fine.
