These famous klippes were issued as special festival and token coins for the city’s annual school and children’s celebrations. Their name derives from the so-called Steckenreiter ('stick riders' in german) - schoolboys who rode wooden hobby horses during the festivities, symbolically commemorating the return of peace after the Thirty Years’ War.
