Persia (Post-Mongol). Zands. Muhammad Karim Khan, AH 1164-1193 / AD 1751-1779. Abbasi (Silver, 20 mm, 4.55 g, 1 h), type C, Kashan (Dār al-muʾminīn), AH 1174 = AD 1760/1. Couplet: shud āftāb o māh zar o sīm dar jahān / az sikka-yi imām be-ḥaqq ṣāḥib al-zamān (‘Gold and silver have become like the sun and moon in the world / from the coin of the [twelfth] Imam, the rightful Lord of the Age’ in Persian). Rev. Zarb-i dār al-muʾminīn-i Kāshān (‘Struck at the abode of the faithful, Kashan’ in Persian). Date partly off flan, only the final digit ‘4’ visible. Album 2800. Rare and well struck with clear legends. Minor deposits, otherwise, about extremely fine.

The reverse inscription is executed in a composite Thuluth style, a calligraphic treatment less frequently encountered on this series and noted for its flowing and ornamental structure.
