Tanka (Silver, 21 mm, 5.06 g, 4 h), fifth coinage, Sunni reverse type A, Qazbin (Qazwin) / Qarnin, AH 844 (retrograde) = AD 1440/1. Within circle, in two lines: lā ilāha illā Allāh / Muḥammad rasūl Allāh (‘There is no deity but God; Muḥammad is the Messenger of God’ in Arabic). Around, the names of the four Rashidun caliphs: Abū Bakr / ʿUmar / ʿUthmān / ʿAlī. Rev. zarb-i al-sulṭān al-aʿẓam Shāhrukh Bahādur khallada Allāh mulkahu wa sulṭānahu Qazbin (or Qarnin) 844 (‘The supreme sultan Shāhrukh Bahādur, may God perpetuate his kingdom and sovereignty, struck at Qazbin (or Qarnin) 844’ in Arabic and Persian). Album 2405. Extremely rare and nicely toned. Light marks and small deposits, otherwise, good very fine.
