Drachm (Silver, 32 mm, 3.92 g, 6 h), Arab-Sasanian type, citing governor ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad (AH 80-84 / AD 700-703), SK (Sijistan), AH 83 = AD 702/3. Draped Sasanian-style bust to right, wearing an elaborate mural crown; behind head, ‘GDE / ʾp̄zwt’ (‘[may his] glory increase’ in Pahlavi); before head, ‘ʾp̄dlhmʾn / Y mhmtʾn’ (‘ʿAbd al-Rahman son of Muhammad’ in Pahlavi); in the outer margin, ‘ṬS or ṬŠ – bism Allāh – rabbī’ (‘ṬS/ṬŠ? In the name of Allah, my Lord’ in Arabic). Rev. Fire altar, flanked by two attendants; to left, date in Pahlavi; to right, SK (abbreviation for the name of the mint in Pahlavi). Album 38A. Rare.
