Constantius I, as Caesar, 293-305. Denarius (Silvered bronze, 20 mm, 2.59 g), Rome, circa 294-296. CONSTANTIVS NOB C Laureate bust of Constantius I to right, wearing consular robe and holding eagle-tipped scepter in his right hand. Rev. IOVI CONSERVATORI AVGG Jupiter standing front, head to right, holding thunderbolt in his right hand and long scepter in his left; at his feet to left, eagle standing left, head to right, holding wreath in beak. Cohen -. Hunter -. RIC -. Apparently unpublished save for its previous auction appearance. A splendid example, nearly fully silvered and with a highly unusual bust type for this emperor. Very minor traces of corrosion on the edge, otherwise, good extremely fine.
