Maximianus, first reign, 286-305. Antoninianus (Silvered bronze, 24 mm, 3.42 g, 12 h), Treveri, mid-end 293. MAXIMIANVS AVG Radiate and cuirassed bust of Maximianus to right. Rev. VOTIS X / PTR Maximianus, togate, standing front, head to left, sacrificing out of patera over tripod with his right hand and holding short scepter in his left; in field to right, D . Cahn 82. Cohen -. Estiot/Zanchi 54.7 (this coin). RIC 486. Very rare and exceptionally well preserved for the issue, certainly one of the finest known tetrarchic antoniniani struck at Trier. Thin flan crack, otherwise, good extremely fine.

Tetrarchic antoniniani of Trier are invariably very rare, especially in such pristine condition. They were struck shortly before Diocletian’s monetary reform of 294.
