PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Arsinoe II, wife of Ptolemy II, died 270 BC. Mnaieion or Oktadrachm (Gold, 28 mm, 27.64 g, 11 h), Alexandria, struck under Ptolemy II, circa 252/1-250/49. Veiled head of Arsinoe II to right, wearing stephane and ram's horn and with a lotus-tipped scepter over her left shoulder; in field to left, Λ. Rev. ΑΡΣΙΝΟΗΣ ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΟΥ Double cornucopiae bound with fillet and with two grape bunches hanging at sides. CPE 391. SNG Copenhagen -. Svoronos 476. Troxell, Arsinoe, Group 3, pl. 7, 4 (same obverse die). A bold and impressive example. A few faint marks and with banker's marks (or small flan faults?) on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
