PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy I Soter, 305-282 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 14.35 g, 1 h), uncertain mint on Cyprus (Salamis or Kition), circa 294-282. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis around neck; small Δ behind ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt; in field to left, EY above monogram of ΚΛΕ. CPE 224. SNG Copenhagen 90. Svoronos 358. Boldly struck and beautifully toned, and with a wonderful portrait of excellent style. Minor marks and with faint scratches on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
