IONIA. Herakleia ad Latmon. Circa 140-135 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 16.70 g, 12 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with Pegasos springing to right above the foreparts of five galloping horses and a long tendril on the bowl, triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. HPAKΛEΩTΩN Club to right; below, Nike advancing left, holding wreath in her right hand, between two monograms; all within oak wreath. Jameson 1503. Lavva, Silberprägung, Group II, B. SNG Keckman 235 (same obverse die). SNG Lockett 2823. Beautifully toned, sharply struck and with a splendid obverse, a lovely example of excellent full Hellenistic style. Extremely fine.
