ATTICA. Athens. Circa 165-42 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 33 mm, 16.83 g, 11 h), Timarchos, Nikago..., and Sosige..., magistrates, 134/3. Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet adorned with Pegasos and long tendril on the bowl, and with the foreparts of four horses above the visor. Rev. A-ΘE / TIM-APXOY / NIKAΓO / ΣΩΣΙΓΕ Owl standing facing on amphora; to left, anchor and star; on amphora, Δ; in exergue, ME; all within laurel wreath. HGC 4, 1635. Thompson 362g. A lightly toned and very attractive example with a particularly sharp reverse. The obverse a bit weak and with thin die breaks, otherwise, extremely fine.
