BOEOTIA. Thebes. Circa 425-395 BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 12.00 g, 6 h). Boeotian shield, with club to left across upper half. Rev. [Θ-E] Bearded head of Dionysos to right, wearing wreath of ivy and fruit; all within incuse square. BCD Boiotia 439. BMC 58-9. HGC 4, 1326. SNG Delepierre 1354 (same reverse die). Traité III, 241. Attractively toned and of fine style, with an impressive head of Dionysos. Struck on a slightly short flan and with light marks, otherwise, good very fine.
