MIDDLE DANUBE. Uncertain tribe. 2nd century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 23 mm, 12.54 g, 12 h), 'Kroisbach mit Reiterstumpf' type, mint in Burgenland or western Slovakia. Beardless male head with boxer's nose to right, wearing three-layered diadem. Rev. Rider on horseback left, showing only his torso, his hair bound with a diadem and tied into a topknot with three trailing curls; below, ground line ending in two torcs. CCCBM I 152. Dembski 1391 (same dies). Flesche 524 (this coin). Lanz 744. OTA 469/5. SLM 1170. Beautifully toned and very attractive. Nearly extremely fine.
