KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-281 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 17.15 g, 6 h), Amphipolis, circa 288/7-282/1. Diademed head of Alexander the Great to right with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟY Athena seated left, holding Nike, crowning the king's name, in her right hand and leaning with her left arm on shield decorated with lion's head; behind, transverse spear; in inner left field, monogram; in exergue, two monograms. HGC 3.2, 1750l. Müller -. Thompson 209. Beautifully toned, struck in high relief and with a bold portrait of Alexander, a lovely coin with a fine pedigree. Minor marks and the obverse struck a little bit off center, otherwise, about extremely fine.



Edouard Yervant Hindamian (1871 or 1877-1958) was a Paris-based art dealer of Armenian descent, active in the early twentieth century. He maintained premises first in the rue Richer and later in the rue des Pyramides, became a French citizen in 1924, and supplied major museums, including the Louvre.

François-Maurice Allotte de La Fuÿe (1844-1939) was a French officer, archaeologist, and numismatist. A distinguished scholar of ancient Near Eastern coinage, he was a member of the French archaeological delegation in Persia from 1897 to 1904 and served twice as President of the Société française de numismatique, from 1914 to 1916 and again from 1920 to 1922.
