SICILY. Syracuse. Second Democracy, 466-405 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 17.10 g, 4 h), circa 450-440. Charioteer driving quadriga walking to right, holding reins in both hands; above, Nike flying right to crown the horses; in exergue, ketos to right. Rev. ΣYRΑΚΟΣΙ-Ο-Ν Diademed head of Arethousa to right, wearing pendant earring and necklace; around, four dolphins swimming right. Boehringer 529 (V273/R369). HGC 2, 1311. McClean 2661 (same reverse die). SNG ANS 167 (same reverse die). SNG Lockett 935 (same reverse die). Nicely toned. Minor areas of horn silver and a flan fault on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
