LUCANIA. Sybaris. Circa 550-510 BC. Stater (Silver, 28 mm, 8.22 g, 12 h). Bull standing left on dotted ground line, his head turned back to right; in exergue, VM; all within border of dots. Rev. Bull standing right on dotted ground line, his head turned back to left; all within border of dots; all incuse. Gorini 6. HN Italy 1729. SNG ANS 842-4. SNG Ashmolean 845. SNG Copenhagen 1388. Very well struck and with beautiful iridescent toning, a lovely example with an excellent pedigree. Very light doubling and with a thin die break on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
