Nero, 54-68. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 36 mm, 24.90 g, 7 h), Lugdunum, 66. IMP NERO CAESAR AVG PONTIF MAX TRIB POT P P Laureate head of Nero to right, small globe at point of bust. Rev. ANNONA AVGVSTI CERES / S C Ceres, on the right, veiled and draped, seated to left, holding grain ears in her right hand and torch in her left; below seat, another grain ear; Annona, on the left, draped, standing right, resting her right hand on her hip and holding cornucopiae in her left; between them, modius set on garlanded altar; in background, ship's stern. BMC -. CBN -. Cohen 23. RIC 496. WCN 431. An impressive example with an excellent portrait and a fine pedigree. Thin flan crack and with very minor traces of corrosion, otherwise, good very fine.
