IONIA. Magnesia ad Maeandrum. Circa 145-140 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 33 mm, 16.85 g, 11 h), Euphemos, son of Pausanias, magistrate. Diademed and draped bust of Artemis to right, with bow and quiver over her shoulder. Rev. MAΓNHTΩN - ΕΥΦΗΜOΣ / ΠΑΥΣΑΝΙΟΥ Apollo standing left on maeander pattern, holding filleted laurel branch in his lowered right hand and leaning his left elbow on a tall tripod behind him; all within laurel wreath. BMC 36. Ellis-Evans, Wreathed Tetradrachms, 95 (O.23/R.EP37). E&E-Ö, Kirikhan, 62-7. Jones obv. die 17. SNG Berry 1068. Sharply struck, beautifully toned and of lovely Hellenistic style. A few light marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
