KINGS OF MACEDON. Perseus, 179-168 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 33 mm, 17.26 g, 12 h), Attic standard, Pella or Amphipolis, circa 173-172/1. Diademed head of Perseus to right. Rev. BAΣI-ΛEΩΣ / ΠEΡ-ΣEΩΣ Eagle with spread wings standing right on thunderbolt; above, monogram of AY; to right, monogram of HP; between the eagle's legs, AN; all within oak wreath; in exergue, plow to right. De Luca 132 (O32/R119). HGC 3.1, 1094. Mamroth, Perseus, 15. Jameson 1013 (same obverse die). McClean 3675 (same dies). Struck on an unusually heavy flan, attractively toned, and with an excellent portrait. Tiny marks and faint scratches and with very light deposits, otherwise, about extremely fine.
