KINGS OF MACEDON. Demetrios I Poliorketes, 306-283 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 17.17 g, 11 h), Chalkis, circa 290-287. Diademed and horned head of Demetrios I to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ Poseidon, nude, standing left, his right foot set on rock, holding trident in his left hand and resting his right on his right thigh; in outer left field, Δ. HGC 3.1, 1014f. Newell - (obverse die CLVII). Seleukos I Find 293 (this coin). SNG Alpha Bank -. SNG Berry -. SNG München -. Triton X (2007), 167 (same obverse die). An extremely rare variety. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die, otherwise, about extremely fine.
